On Thursday, 12th January, ten Year 9 students attended the annual TEENTECH event at the Emirates Stadium in London.
It is a very carefully timetabled and immersive experience, fun but focused giving students and young people a real insight into the industries of the future and the skills they need to take advantage of them. Our students took part in a number of challenges, including working with people from Maplins, Thames Water and Tideway Tunnels, Queen Mary University and Hewlett Packard. In addition to this they examined exhibits and spoke with people from organisations ranging from IBM to National Grid to Symantec.
The students came up with a great idea for providing regular clean drinking water via the use of kinetic energy and gave a polished presentation outlining their proposal. Throughout the day we were brilliantly mentored by innovator and speaker Elena Corchera, who proved a real inspiration. Special mention to Brodie Blore who walked away with a super trophy for best gamer!
