Year 4 recently visited the Ipswich Samaj Hindu Temple. The boys and girls were in great spirits as we reached the temple, conveniently hidden under the shadow of the Corn Exchange in Ipswich.
We were treated to a hugely entertaining and informative morning by Martin Spettigew. We learnt about the Hindu deities, Hindu culture, puja (worship), shrines, weddings, traditional dress and much, much more. We watched a video of Martin’s daughter dancing; his niece’s wedding in India and of his recent trip to Bali. Some of us played the Conches that Martin had brought back from Bali – Joseph Salter was brilliant at this! Thea Wilson and Mr Myers-Allen also had the chance to wear a sari.
Trips like this really enhance the children’s cultural understanding and once more the Brandeston boys and girls were outstanding ambassadors for the school.
