2017’s A level results were largely in line with expectations for most students, with a large number of very pleasing results where students exceeded expectations. Importantly, the majority of our students secured places at their chosen universities and they should be congratulated on their achievements. This delightful year group deserved every success that came their way.
This year’s results are the first under the new linear A levels in most subjects, which were designed by Michael Gove ‘to make A levels harder’, so in many ways these results are not directly comparable with previous years (though this year’s results compare very favourably with 2016). It is too early to know quite how the new examinations have impacted on grades overall and organisations such as HMC will be providing feedback on this over the coming weeks once the bigger picture is known.
As ever, a full statistical breakdown of results will be available on this website once results are complete.
