On Sunday 19th November the army section enjoyed it’s second Field Day of the term training on the DCCT (electronic range) at the Military Correction Training Centre, Colchester and live firing on the 25m outdoor range, at nearby Merville Barracks.
On the DCCT there were some outstanding performances including Sgt Rupert Dean’s 9/10 shots on target at 500m using ‘iron sights’. Sgt Coral Langridge was the overall winner on the LSW (Light Support Weapon) with a grouping of 11mm at 25m and Sgt Archie Goodhead on the LA98A2 at the same distance with a grouping of 25mm. On the live firing range all 15 cadets achieved a Pass or better with WO1 Lexi Taylor and L.Cpl Harry Rowland achieving the highly prized Marksmanship badges averaging groupings of less than 30mm on four shoots.
