Last half-term, students in the Scholars’ Programme experienced an introduction to formal debating followed by a freer whole group discussion around current hot topics in education – from silent corridors, isolation booths to mental health support and structures based on student-centred learning.
The link to ‘love’ was quite tongue in cheek but ultimately the discussion around what the best pupil-student rapport should be was illuminating. There were some excellent contributions and Mr Salisbury will be certainly looking to train some more debaters in the future.
