On Friday 28th June, we had the privilege of hosting Holocaust survivor Mrs Janine Webber who shared her testimony with the whole school and a large contingent from Thomas Mills. Janine was seven years old when the Germans invaded Poland in 1939. Over the next few years she lost her father who was shot by the Gestapo, her mother through typhus and her younger brother who was murdered by the SS. Orphaned from the age of ten, she moved from refuge to refuge, being helped by some and betrayed by others.
This remarkable lady’s extraordinary tale of survival and resilience was an inspiration to us all. Those lucky enough to hear her will never forget the experience.
