The College’s Autumn Concert was a joyful and collaborative evening of music involving Framlingham College, Sir Robert Hitcham’s Primary School and Saxmundham School.
The first half of the concert was in the chapel, and was a glorious setting for our college ensembles. This highlighted the diverse range of musical experiences our students have through ensembles such as Orchestra, Big Band, Choirs, Ukulele Orchestra, String chamber music, Kerrision’s winning song and the spellbinding percussion ensemble.
After refreshments in Paul’s Court, we moved to the Headmaster Porter Theatre for the second half on the concert, which was a celebration of the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. A massed choir of over 120 young singers from the three schools sang with energy, musicality and commitment, and were accompanied stylishly by our full orchestra and band.
Fantastic teamwork and camaraderie shone through as each song received rapturous applause from both the audience and fellow performers. The concert culminated in a performance of ‘Sing’ which was written to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The message of togetherness and community was a fitting end to an uplifting and inspirational evening, and we hope that this is just the first of many collaborations.”Sing it stronger, Sing together, make this moment last forever”.
