Leo Goldsmith is a graduate himself of Jesus College, Oxford (2000). Following on from his undergraduate degree in English and History, Leo studied at Liverpool University and received an MBA specialising in the music industry.

After this, Leo worked for two independent music labels, including work as an A&R scout. The next few years saw Leo awarded a prestigious internship at Lowe Lintas, the London advertising agency, as well as contracts with PR and media companies. After a permanent role as a research executive at qualitative market research agency ‘The Big Picture’, he felt the siren call of education and re-trained as a teacher by taking a PGCE in Secondary English at the Institute of Education, University of London.

Permanent roles teaching English and Media Studies at Stanley Park High School and Hinchley Wood School preceded his move to Framlingham College as Head of English for the 2012-13 academic year. He was Head of Scholars between 2017 and 2020 and now, alongside his continued role as Head of English, specialises in helping advise our prospective Oxford and Cambridge candidates.

The first to go to any university from his family, Leo was inspired by his own experiences of navigating the intricacies of the Oxbridge application process and helped with the Target Schools initiative. Since becoming a teacher, a key pleasure has been helping good students from all backgrounds become great students through challenging academic conversations and being able to offer perspectives beyond that of English – he is a keen quiz fiend, music geek, football fan, podcast addict and is working on being more of a polymath than ever. Current reading has included a short work on Victorian phrenology and ‘Seven Brief Lessons on Physics’ by Carlo Rovelli.
