It was a fantastic sold-out show for our Senior School Cabaret last week!
With this year’s theme as Latin Beats, our talented musicians, singers, and dancers took us through a technicolour of brilliant performances all inspired by Spanish and Portuguese music.
Latin music, which comprises the traditional sounds of Mexico, Central America, Spain and Portugal, is particularly characterized by its prominent use of percussion instruments and a great variety of shaken rattles, maracas, scrapers, and tambourines.
Today, South America and European influences have shifted the tones of Latin music throughout world over time – adding in guitars, trumpets and saxophones.
Latin dance refers to the types of ballroom and folk dances, including the Cha-cha-cha, Rumba, Samba, Flamenco, and Paso Doble. Today, more modern ‘street-dances’ have become more accepted and popular in the regions of Latin America, such as the Salsa, Bachata, and Merengue.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and a very well done to all our incredible pupils.
