How does my child travel to and from the airport to the school?

For all holiday periods including half terms, we arrange transport booked via our Transport Department for pupils to and from all London Airports as well as Liverpool Street railway station and St Pancras International. We work with Airport Angels who provide a dedicated meet and greet service for pupils arriving into the UK. This service is not included in the school fees.

International Travel Information

Do the school fees cover the cost of airport transfers?

The school fees do not include the cost of transfer to and from the airports. Please contact our Transport Department for an indication of cost.

How many international pupils are in the school?

90% of our pupils are British. To ensure that Framlingham College provides a truly vibrant and diverse learning environment, 10% of our international pupils currently come from 19 different countries.

Do you have Exeat/closed Weekends?

Yes, we have two exeat weekends each term, one either side of half term. However, whilst most pupils go home or to their guardians, our full boarders are welcome to stay at school if they wish to. Permission should be sought if an international pupil is invited to the home of a local friend from school.

What activities can my child get involved with and when?

Our activities programme is broad and varied. Your child can get involved in extra-curricular sport, drama and music. We are a leading provider of the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme in the country. Pupils can join CCF (Combined Cadet Force; army or marines) or Rangers, circus skills, code-breaking, debating, bridge, aqua-fit, gravity go-kart racing, drone flying, Lego robot league, Dragons’ Den, photography, and Chinese calligraphy amongst many others. Please see here (Senior School) or here (Prep School).

What weekend activities do you offer?

All pupils in the senior school attend academic lessons on a Saturday morning followed by sport in the afternoons. After this, we offer a range of exciting and varied activities to our boarders. Please see here. In the Prep School, instead of academic lessons on a Saturday morning, we offer an enrichment programme of activities called Ignite that the pupils may choose from. Designed with children’s growth and exploration in mind, every child will reap a host of social, emotional and physical benefits from taking part. How do we arrange a Student Visa application?

We have an agreement with Holmes & Partners who manage the visa application process and release Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) to the UK Visa and Immigration Department. Their skilled team can support and advise you along every step of the Student visa application process. All student visas must be obtained via Holmes & Partners and the application commences after an acceptance of a place at Framlingham College.

If I have a student Visa, can I access healthcare services in the UK?

As part of your student visa application, you will be requested to pay the NHS surcharge for the duration of your stay in the UK. You will then be covered by the NHS service, which includes visiting a doctor’s surgery (also known as a General Practitioner or GP), healthcare centres and hospitals. You may need to pay for dental treatments and for medicines prescribed by a doctor. Private medical insurance is compulsory for overseas pupils and can either be obtained through the school or from other providers sourced by parents.

How much EAL provision does the school offer?

Years 9 – 11: EAL is offered instead of mainstream English where we feel the pupil might require additional support with the English (subject) curriculum. They receive six lessons a week as part of their normal timetable. Years 12 & 13: EAL is offered as an additional subject for those needing to get an English language qualification for university entry, or they simply want a certificate to take home at the end of their tenure with us. We provide two lessons a week and these are slotted into the pupils’ timetables during their study periods. Additional Lessons: If a pupil wants one-to-one lessons, the department will endeavour to provide this. One-to-one lessons will be approximately £30 per lesson.
