On the 21st March six year 3 &4 pupils had an inspirational day at The Red House in Aldeburgh where visiting author Colin R Parson gave a workshop on fictional writing.
First, we listened to his wonderfully presented history of the books that he has written and his anecdotes of how he came to love writing. Including a wonderful story of how his passion for reading was sparked at the age of 7 when he read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
We were then challenged to write our own short story entitled Disc. Throughout the morning, he came and gave some excellent advice to our budding authors.
As the sun had come out, we finally stretched our legs in the beautiful garden of Benjamin Britten. We were then treated to a quick visit of the Benjamin Britten museum and his own personal library.
After lunch we had a little more time to finish our stories before some children, including Daniel Bayman, shared their stories with the whole group.
The afternoon finished off with an opportunity to get a book and get it signed by Colin. A fantastic day was had by all.
