Another night in the series of ‘Big Nights In’ took place at Framlingham College Prep School on Thursday evening.
A group of Year 3 and 4 pupils spent the evening assembling and building Lego as part of their evening activity. They were tasked with building a robot, that would end up battling the robots created by all the other boarders. It was fun exercise that worked on their team building skills and creativity.
Headmaster Matthew King commented, “We are big fans of Lego here at Fram. Last night we saw our children learning through play, learning through making mistakes and learning through having fun. It’s the way children learn best and it’s rigorous too. The children demonstrated exceptional creativity and invention and it was pleasingly ironic that, on a night when we were designing robots, we weren’t in any way behaving like them!”
Several of the Year 3 & 4 pupils had never boarded before, these evenings give them a perfect opportunity to sample boarding amongst their peer groups and their friends.
Head of Boarding, Ed Marland commented: “The boarding house used to be an exclusive part of a Prep school but that separation no longer exists. Almost all of our children now stay at some stage during the year and, for many, it becomes first a habit and then a passion”. With past nights including a torch lit treasure hunt and activities like a Circus skills evening still to come it doesn’t look like that enthusiasm will wane any time soon.
