The Upper Sixth English society look at the significance of social class in British literature.
The final stop in the 20th century for the Upper Sixth English society was an examination of social class in literature. A short lecture from Mr Goldsmith explored the exciting changes in the 1940s, 50s and 60s which saw the innovation of cheap Penguin paperbacks, a surge in literacy and the rise of English Literature in universities. New realist texts, in particular, emerged and students then worked in pairs on a choose-your-own adventure inspired task using dice to create their own 50s/60s style realist novel concept.
