Jess Rawson presents Mark Adams and Julie Arthur with a cheque for £1604
As Framlingham College celebrated the 150th anniversary of its chapel this week, the students took the opportunity to hand over a donation of £1,604 to the Colchester Critical Care Trust.
The Charity committee and the College students raised the funds as a result of Jess Rawson’s appeal to support this local charity. The students see charitable giving as a vital part of their education and love looking for ways to raise funds. Last term students used conventional methods like cake sales and home clothes days but also sold Christmas Candy Canes to raise funds. This term they will launch the “Charity Shop”, reselling nice items of clothing and accessories to their peers.
The College Chaplain, Rev. Brynn Bayman said, “It is just another way that the students find reason to give back to their local community and wider charitable causes. As Mr Michael Cooke mentioned in his 150th Chapel address, the College only exists because of the giving and generosity of local families who provided the funds to build the chapel in the first place; and now it is our turn to give back to our community.”
