This is now Framlingham College’s fourth year of participation in Poetry by Heart, a national competition which happens to be the brainchild of poet Andrew Motion.
Our four school finalists (Michael Allflatt, Joe Lipman, Amelia Schroeter and Theo Walker – all, coincidentally, from Year 11) this year competed keenly. After each had recited their two poems superbly, the judging panel – led by Dominic Weatherby, our national finalist from the 2014-15 competition, delivered their verdict. In a close contest, Joe Lipman emerged as our runner-up and Amelia Schroeter our winner; she recited ‘The Rights of Women’ by Barbauld and ‘Goodbye’ by Alun Lewis with verve and passion and our congratulations go to her and the other finalists.
