In the first Geography Society lecture of the year, 79 keen geographers listened to a talk led by a Royal Geographical Society ambassador entitled ‘Going places with geography’.
All students listened intently to the differences between studying at GCSE, A Level and University and the varied careers that can follow a degree in geography.
Students were not surprised to hear that becoming a teacher or tour guide are not the only career options with a geography degree. In fact, geographers are some of the most employable graduates in a wide range of careers with one of the lowest unemployment rates from any degree.
Our next Geography Society lecture in November will involve A Level students presenting what they have learnt about the geography of Iceland following our half term field trip.
