Well done to the FCPS U13 boys who are through to the IAPS National Hockey Finals in March. The boys played incredibly well today at the East Region Finals at St Faith’s School in Cambridgshire, playing against 20 of the strongest schools in the region. The boys came second in their group with wins against Orwell Park and St Hugh’s (from Lincolnshire) and with draws against Chigwell School (Essex) and St Johns (Cambridgeshire). This meant a quarter-final against a very talented Felsted team which the boys won 1-0, followed by a tremendous semi-final with Town Close House (Norfolk) which again was 1-0 in our favour.
The final was against Gresham’s School, who like us had not conceded a goal throughout the day. The final was incredibly close and the boys gave their all, but it wasn’t to be and Gresham’s ran out 1-0 winners. Both Gresham’s and FCPS, plus Orwell Park and Town Close will go on to represent the East of England at the National Finals.
Coach Ed Marland said “The boys have shown real determination and courage today and we are all so proud of their efforts and performances today.”
