After having a delicious meal together, we were treated to the fabulous playing of the acclaimed Academy of Ancient Music. The performance was vibrant and detailed, and was a great example of their historically-informed approach, playing music from the baroque and classical era in the way it was first intended.
Particular highlights were the sonorous Albinoni and Marcello oboe concerti, and the rousing interpretations of Vivaldi’s concerto for Violin in G minor, and concerto for two Violins in F major. Ollie Raymond (Year 9) ‘enjoyed feeling like part of the music’, and Arthur Considine (Year 9) enjoyed having the opportunity to share the evening with other students who have the same interests as him.
This was a musically enriching evening, and we are looking forward to next term’s concert trip already!
