Rifle shooting at the College has enjoyed considerable success over many decades. Sunday 14th October 2018 saw the College’s annual shoot against the OFRC competing for the Podd Trophy. Many of the OFRC were shooting in an International event, but they still managed to muster together a formidable team. The College has struggled to muster a team at all over the last year or so, but managed to find good shots 7 (mostly juniors) who also put up a good fight – and who only went down by the narrowest of margins – 1,458 to 1,413. Top Shot for the OFRC was Jon Ford with a score of 193 and Top Shot for the College was Theo McDowell with 189. Everybody wants to see College shooting return to its glory days and any pupil who has a passion for shooting, and who is not necessarily in a major team, is encouraged to come forward and help revitalise this sport so that events, like this, can continue many years into the future.
