As the 2019/20 hockey season begins, Framlingham College is thrilled to announce that six pupils have progressed to the England Hockey Further Assessment Camps.
Midfielder Georgie Gardens (Year 11), Defender Sam Wash (Year 12) and Goalkeepers Ollie Juszt (Year 13) and Beth Farrow (Year 13) have all been selected for the U18 age group and attended the Further Assessment Camps last weekend at Lilleshall NSC. They now await the feedback.
Ollie is no stranger to England hockey having won a bronze medal with the U18 squad at last year’s 6 Nations Cup. Sam and Georgie were selected for England U16s last year and aim to go one better this year. Both Georgie and Beth were selected to compete in the Futures Cup in August playing for their Performance centre squad, the Saxon Tigers.
Further down the school, Olivia Buchanan and Daisy Ford, both Year 11 pupils and integral squad members of Framlingham College 1st XI Girls, have been selected for the England U16 Further Assessment Camps taking place at Lilleshall NSC this weekend.
These pupils are following in the well-trodden footsteps of many sports scholars at Framlingham College who have gone on to pursue a hockey career alongside their studies. 5 Old Framlinghamians (Sophie Sunderland (13-15), Molly Redgrove (13-18) Abby Gooderham (13-18), Tabby Billingham (17-19) and Rose Winter (13-18)) are currently on full hockey scholarships at top U.S. universities and recent leaver, Lottie Summers (04-19) has just this week been selected for the GB Hockey Elite Development Programme – this is an incredible achievement for the 18 year old.
These nominations reinforce the school’s commitment to supporting its talented athletes, helping them achieve their full sporting ambition through the Pathways to Excellence Scholars’ Programme.
