Well done to Brandeston Hall U11 boys hockey team who won the IAPS East of England Plate Final at Bishop’s Stortford.
The team who suffered a succession of injuries during the day, were just pipped in their first game 3-2 by the Bedfordshire champions – Bedford School and they then lost to Cambridge champions – The Perse.
After this tough start to the competition a lesser team could have given up, however from this point the boys started to regain their composure beating New Hall from Essex 4-2 and Norwich School 2-0. These games served as a real impetus to Brandeston, who started the pass the ball with pace and accuracy, winning their next two games 5-2 against St John’s Cambridge and 3-1 against Danes Hill from Surrey. This set up a final against Beeston Hall from Norfolk, which the boys won 5-0.
The team should be commended for the way they played and the courage and complete commitment that they showed throughout the day. Well done boys!
