East of England Champions, Framlingham College U16s travelled to the Lee Valley Olympic Park this week to compete at the Investec National Finals. Becoming the East of England champions was made especially remarkable with seven of the regular U16s representing the U18s in the competition.
The girls worked hard in their first match against Wellingborough, controlling the possession and hitting the post but narrowly losing 1-0. In the second match against Cranleigh (the eventual winners) we found ourselves 4-0 down at half time, but battled to draw the second half, resulting in a 5-1 defeat. On Friday, the girls played their final game losing 1-0 to Blundells from Devon, another narrow defeat.
The girls can be really proud of their efforts and it was a great experience for them playing against the other best teams in the country. The day was capped off with the news that the U11 girls followed in their footsteps to become East of England Champions!
