On Monday 6th November, Billie Wells, Mia North, Mia Spaull, Sofia Odiz, Victoria Davies, Isabelle Wilkinson and Etty Hayward went to OBH for the ‘Women in Science and Engineering Day’.
We were put into groups and Etty and Billie volunteered to go into a mixed group with Kersey school. Firstly, we did a Science task where we had to investigate how much Vitamin C is in a range of fruit using DCPip (blue chemicals). After that we had a go at making elephant toothpaste. It created a huge foam explosion!
Our ICT task was next where we created an animation on Scratch which is a coding programme. Later on, we were set an engineering task; we had to make a wind powered vehicle. We had a great design idea but our wheels let us down! Lastly, we were set a Maths challenge which got pretty hard! It was a great day and we enjoyed it so much – but we all went home with serious brain ache! The girls behaviour was impeccable and they demonstrated all six of the Learning Habits we are focusing on in school; bravery, resilience, independence, imagination, inquisitiveness and reflection.
