The annual Year 4 summer migration to Blaxhall YHA for their much-anticipated residential now very much seems like a firm fixture in the school calendar. So much so, that even the good old fashioned British weather cannot stand in its way – although a hastily rearranged itinerary was necessary so crabbing and the riverside walk were swapped for Indoor Adventure Play and Laser Tag but this didn’t seem to dent the enthusiasm of the children or the staff!

The weather was kinder in the afternoon so the picnic and team den building challenge in Rendlesham Forest did took place as planned. The latter being keenly contested before the ‘Gappies’ delivered their verdict.

It was then time for Blaxhall itself where the village green was a hubbub of rounders, touch rugby, tug-of-war and bulldog. Children also enjoyed exploring the Youth Hostel, and were quick to choose names for their dorms – ‘The Dreamcatcher’ was a clear favourite with the staff.

The children were an absolute pleasure to take and I’m sure they will continue to do the school proud whilst away on future residential trips.
