We started the day with a bracing walk along the twisty and narrow path that follows the River Deben from Waldringfield to nearby marshland.
Children then enjoyed some intensive crabbing, and were ably assisted by our ‘experienced’ Year 8 helpers.
In the afternoon, we enjoyed both a picnic and a team den-building challenge in Rendlesham Forest. It also proved to be a good place to shelter from the great British summer! Finally, we finished with a litter-pick to do our bit for the local environment. It was then time for Blaxhall itself where the village green gave children a chance to create their own fun. Children also enjoyed exploring the hostel, and were quick to choose names for their dorms such as ‘Hounds’ Hideout’.
Some sleep was had too… All-in-all the children were an absolute pleasure to take away and I’m sure they will continue to do the school proud whilst away on future residential trips.
