Year 5 had an amazing morning at Colchester Synagogue as part of our study of Judaism in Humanities. The children were on amazing form and thrilled our hosts Linda and Lee by asking and answering on a wide range of subjects.
We as we were shown around the Synagogue, saw the beautiful Torah scrolls (one of which was over two hundred years old and was brought to Colchester after World War II from the former Czechoslovakia).
The children learnt about the Passover, Chanukah, Rosh Hashanah, prayers, kosher foods, celebrating the Sabbath, trying challah bread and learning how blow the horn of Shofar. We had a wonderful time and Year 5 were an absolute credit to the school with fabulous knowledge and enthusiasm.
